Findings & Impressions
Findings:
The cranial volume is abnormal with an enlarged caudal region compared to the frontal areas. This is due to a Dandy-Walker cyst causing brain malformation. There is mild vermic hypoplasia in the caudal area. The corpus callosum is present but hypoplastic. There is cystic dilation at the hippocampal commissure. There is mild ventriculomegaly without hydrocephalus. Signal changes beneath the cortex in both hemispheres' high convexity may indicate cortical development abnormalities, but no obvious pachygyria or laminar heterotopia. The mesial occipital cortex has reduced white matter, possibly from the cyst’s compressive effects. The straight sinus follows an atypical course, resembling an accessory straight sinus.
Impression:
Dandy-Walker cyst with mild caudal hypoplasia of the vermis and corpus callosum hypoplasia.
