Findings & Impressions
Findings:
In the left posterior insula, there is a 7 x 7 mm peripherally enhancing lesion with surrounding perilesional edema (series 15 image 17). At least 9 smaller similar peripherally enhancing lesions are located throughout the supratentorial brain, many of which restrict diffusion on DWI. Mild associated surrounding edema is seen on T2/FLAIR.
Mild prominence of the ventricles and sulci globally. The basal cisterns are patent. There is no midline shift or signs of herniation.
Impression:
At least 10 small peripherally enhancing lesions, the largest measuring up to 7 mm, scattered throughout the cerebrum, some of which demonstrate restricted diffusion. Findings are concerning for multiple intraparenchymal abscesses.
