Findings & Impressions
Findings:
There is contrast leak from the distal esophagus at the level of T7 below the carina into the mediastinum. This results in extensive pneumomediastinum with air tracking into the base of the neck, pericardium, and chest wall musculature. There are patchy groundglass and airspace opacities throughout the left lung with bibasilar atelectasis and bilateral pleural effusions. There are bilateral nonobstructing renal stones with postsurgical changes of a cholecystectomy.
Impression:
Esophageal perforation with diffuse pneumomediastinum. The patchy airspace opacities in the left lung may represent aspiration.
Recommendations:
For your training purposes, recommendations are not included in this report.
