Findings & Impressions
Findings:
There are scattered supratentorial intraparenchymal cysts with internal scolices without associated enhancement or edema. There is also an actively enhancing lesion with a small amount of surrounding vasogenic edema in the right frontal pole.
There areas of hemorrhage and water restriction in the white matter of both cerebral hemispheres, with interval volume loss and ex vacuo enlargement of the ventricular system and to a lesser extent the sulci.
Impression:
Actively enhancing cystic lesion with surrounding vasogenic edema in the right frontal pole, consistent with neurocysticercosis in the colloidal vesicular stage. There are non-enhancing cystic lesions, some of which are calcified, compatible with chronic sequelae of neurocysticercosis predominantly in the nodular calcified stage.
Expected evolution of diffuse axonal injury with moderate cerebral volume loss.
