Findings

Skull films, scout films, or CT bone windows

There is evidence of a linear, non-displaced calvarial fracture with or without diastasis.

There is evidence of a non-displaced sutural diastatic fracture.

There is evidence of a mixed linear & diastatic fracture.

There is evidence of a fracture crossing any of the meningeal artery sites (i.e. anterior/middle/posterior meningeal arteries, and the occipital meningeal arteries).

There is evidence of a fracture crossing any of the major dural sinuses. Vertex fractures cross the SSS; temporal bone fractures cross the transverse sinus, and midline occipital fractures cross the torcula.

There is evidence of a temporal bone fracture complex with or without intracranial gas and with or without involvement of the sigmoid plate (risk of dural sinus occlusion).

There is evidence of depressed skull fracture.

Other

There is evidence of concurrent abnormalities not likely related to recent brain injury.
