CA0000-AVM 04 - Clinical Case Summary
SummaryHistory
55 yo male with recent onset of seizures and increasing amnesia
Exams Performed
Non contrast head CT, Post contrast CTA, MR with post contrast T1, T2 spin echo, MR flair sequences
Prior sequence impressions
Head CT
1. Exam in within normal limits for chronological age.
CTA
1. CTA confirms the 3 sites of angiomatous AV malformations, as above
post contrast T1, T2 and MR flair. Note the MR was obtained after the CTA
1. There are 3 areas of angiomatous (AV) transformation. The largest in the right high convexity is fully conspicuous. Whereas, the other two are small lesions are subtle and are only apparent after reviewing the CTA.

Overall Impressions
Multicentric sites of angiomatous AV transformation (variant AV vascular malformations)
Lessons to be Learned
1. Angiomatous AV transformat variants of AVM's have multiple micro-fistuar AV shunts, but they do not form a nidus. Interposed brain is evident throughout the lesion(s).
2. This AVM variant has a much lower shunt volume, and hence are most often found incidentally, and seldom hemorrhage.
3. They can be multicentric.
