Findings & Impressions
Findings:
There is an acute aortic dissection that begins just above the level of the aortic valve and ends at the level of the aortic arch. The dissection does not extend to the coronary arteries or major aortic branch vessels. The ascending aorta measures up to 3.9 x 3.9 cm. There are small pulmonary nodules, including a 4mm nodule seen in the right middle lobe. There are scattered granulomas in the left lung. There is an endotracheal tube in appropriate positioning. There is eccentric aortic atherosclerosis as well as visceral atherosclerotic disease. Review of the osseous structures shows diffusely decreased mineralization, mild sclerotic curvature, and multilevel mild-to-moderate degenerative changes.
Impression:
There is an ascending aortic dissection with secondary hemopericardium and imaging findings concerning for cardiac tamponade.
